The Good Book

The Good Book—The good reader wants a good book to read. “And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making of many books [there is] no end; and much study [is] a weariness of the the flesh.” Ecclesiastes 12:12. The number of books currently in publication grows day by day, and it can be tiresome to wade through mounds of trash to unearth the few jewels. Charles Lamb counsels us: “Never waste time on valueless books. Time is too short to read much; there is a necessity, therefore, for judicious selection.” Many Christian friends have come to our family asking for recommendations of wholesome and Biblically sound literature for all members of the family. Here is a listing of good and wholesome books we have read over the years. The list will continue to expand as I have time to add titles and synopses—and as I continue to discover new treasures. The books are listed alphabetically by title under their respective headings.

Disclaimer: No book, apart from the Holy Scriptures of God, is wholly pure. I have personally read each of the books listed here and found them to be chiefly wholesome, uplifting, and doctrinally sound. If I have reservations about a specific book I have included them in bold type.
