Flight of the Busy Bee
Flight of the Busy Bee
This week has barely begun, but already it is bristling with activity. You see, we are all packing for an upcoming Civil War reenactment—the first of the season. Yesterday, I scrubbed the whole house, and everyone else pulled out our costumes and packed the Super Pickle (our green GMC). Today, Mama shopped, I ironed, my sister mended, and we all packed our clothes. Tomorrow we plan to do the yard (if it doesn’t rain, which it probably will!) and wash the dog. Thursday we plan on baking and cooking for the trip, as well as finalizing the packing. Then, off to bed!
On our way we plan to pick up the company chaplain. He is currently taking a walk - a very long walk from Key West to Newfoundland, actually. He will be riding with us for over two hours—in a green camper with seven children. This should prove interesting.
We will be leaving in the wee hours of Friday morning, so I will be unable to post at the customary time. I do promise an account of the Oklawaha River Raid once I return. Ta ta for now!

Well, it certainly does sound like you have been busy bees this week. I hope you all have fun at the reenactment! I can’t wait to read all about it.

I especially like the “Good Advice for the Mothers of Dollies.” It’s really nice. My mother really likes the music.

Welcome, Kayla and Bethany! I am so glad that you took the time to comment. I really appreciate that.
We came home this afternoon after a lengthy drive. We have just completed the bulk of the un-packing and are settling down for long-waited baths and our own beds. We had an absolutely beautiful time at Ocklawaha. (It certainly was chilly, though. I am glad I brought my wool cape!) As I said, I am hoping to soon post an account, as well as some of Next Sister’s fine photographs. (A photograph of our company made it to the font page of the local newspaper, so I shall have to post a scan of that too!)
I am glad you enjoyed “Good Advice for the Mothers of Dollies,” Bethany I thought it a rather cute piece myself. The little author sends her gratitude for your kind thoughts.
