Sweet Promises
Sweet Promises
This is a tiny glimpse of what is happening beneath-ground. Another midnight rampage by the cats unearthed the top of this creamy-colored parsnip. Oh! I do hope they come out well. I have my mouth all fixed for ginger-roasted parsnips. Yum!
I only hope they are growing as big underground as they are above it. The eighteen parsnips seem to be vying for luxuriant growth: they keep putting forth new leaves and stretching out over the dirt.
I think I have finally determined that English peas do not grow well in my neck of the woods. This is the fifth round and this withered specimen is the only one left.
This grew from the packet labeled “Greek Oregano,” but it doesn’t look at all like one, and there is no scent. I suspect they mixed the labels of my oregano and German Chamomile. What do you think? At any rate, it seems to be growing well. It will be fun to dry my own chamomile tea.
Well, that is all I have for this tour. The basil is doing well, I’ve run out of pepper seeds, and the chives are reluctant to show their faces. I would be, too! :)

I’m glad that your chamomile and parsnips are doing well! I just posted an update on our little gardening venture. We’re hoping this batch will turn out better than the last!

Your parsnips look great! That is something we have never thought to grow. Have you ever tried snow peas rather than English peas? They are pretty easy. :-)
Happy Gardening!

I commented on your blog, Stephanie. Everything looks lovely!
Hello, Stricklens! Actually, this is the very first “serious gardening I’ve done. I’ve never tried snow peas, but I will certainly keep you recommendation in mind. Perhaps that’s what I should order next winter. As for parsnips, I first tasted them about a year ago and knew at once that I would like to grow them. They are one of my favorite vegetables.
Thank you, everyone, for the encouragement! :-)
