A Lemonade Party
A Lemonade Party
This was the lovely sight that greeted me when I went out this morning to water my garden: the lush green lawn washed in golden sunlight. Perhaps it was the morning light or perhaps it was my new eye-glasses prescription, but everything seemed especially clear and clean. It was the sort of day that begged a little outdoor “gathering.” After an hour and a half of geometry I went out to swing with my littlest brother and to weed the garden. Then we went inside to begin preparations for the festivities. Everyone was excited. “Will it be like last time?” they asked eagerly as they sneaked away from their schoolwork to take a few delighted whiffs of the cinnamon air.
We were going to have a lemonade party! (It being too warm for tea,) My brother helped me make the snickerdoodles (this help consisting largely of licking the beater paddle clean). We mixed a pitcher of lemonade, cut apple slices, and made little wraps with tortilla and the Mexican rice Biggest Brother had made for yesterday’s dinner.
We spread Great-Grandma’s colorful butterfly quilt on the lawn, set the table with Mama’s pink roses, and played Johann Strauss Jr. on the stereo. Biggest Brother cranked open the large umbrella so that we could have some shade. A gentle, steady wind completed the festive atmosphere.
We didn’t talk much (with the exception of the initial chorus of “Thank you!” and “Hurrah!”). Biggest Brother told me that it was “Top notch!” and, with Strauss on the breeze, suggested we have an outdoors dance. Everyone else vehemently opposed the idea, as they weren’t interested in the neighbors seeing us. :)
It was nice to relax outside and take a little break from our routine. We invite you to “take a photographic peek” at our afternoon.

Hello, Allison! I am so glad to “see” you here. I’ll bake snickerdoodles for you if your family will come back to dance with us. :-)
