Feminine Inspiration No. 4
Feminine Inspiration No. 4
Princess A of Princesses in Disguise has requested that I post a tutorial for the hairstyle shown in the photograph of my sister on the blog title banner. (Miss A promises to do her own tutorials at her blog, so be sure to visit!)
I am always so pleased to receive emails from my visitors. Please consider sending me one today! For another hair tutorial—this one for the elegant braided chignon—visit my post Feminine Inspiration No. 2.
For ease and beauty, first thoroughly brush the clean hair of your subject (or, yes, with practice, yourself!).
Part the hair quite evenly, and make two neat, tight braids.
Now here is something that may sound a bit strange! Cross one braid over the other, pass it under, and then through the opening at the top. Voila! You’ve just completed the first step for tying your shoelaces and for doing your hair.
Pull the braids out to the side so that the “knot,” if you will, presses close to the head near the nape of the neck.
One of the braids ends you will curve along the top of the “knot” and pin. The other braid end you will curve along the bottom of the “knot” and pin.
There you have it: a wide, braided bun that is much more secure than when done in the traditional fashion.
I do hope you have enjoyed this little tutorial. I enjoyed putting it together! If some point isn’t clear to you, please feel free to comment, and I shall do my best to resolve it. Otherwise, just comment to let me know what you think!

OOO, how lovely. I wish my hair was long enough for a lovely hairstyle like this. Maybe if my hair will ever grow out, I’ll be able to try it someday. Thanks for the tutorial!
