Feminine Inspiration No. 5
Feminine Inspiration No. 5
We have here another hairstyling tutorial for you. This is the rope, a striking braid that will have others stopping to ask you how it’s done. Everyone will want to know why it doesn’t unwind! Papa tells me that it is just how they braid rope with hemp, but it looks stunning with hair—and is as simple as a traditional braid.
If you like, visit our two other tutorials:
To begin the rope, brush out the hair of your subject. (This hairstyle is difficult to do for oneself, but you may be fortunate to have helpful sisters or a mother to literally lend a hand.)
Secure the hair in a ponytail.
Separate the hair into three even parts. I will number these #1, #2, #3 from left to right. We start with the third strand, the rightmost.
Take this strand and twist it to the right (counter-clockwise) till it is twisted almost to the tip.
Take it and cross it over both other strands. Shift everything to the right. From left to right it is #3, #1, #2.
Take the rightmost strand and twist it as you did before.
Cross this strand over the other two and shift the strands to the right. From left to right it should be #2, #3, #1.
Take the rightmost strand and twist it as you did the others. Then cross it over the other two and shift everything to the right. From left to right it is once more #1, #2, #3. From henceforth, the trick is simply to take the rightmost strand and cross it over the other two.
You can imagine that it is helpful to have a helper to hold the other strands to keep them from unwinding.
Keep twisting until you have come nearly to the tips. Secure the end with a rubber band, and enjoy a hairstyle that will keep the hair off your face and look pretty while doing it.
