I Could Have Danced All Night
To celebrate their first year, the Soirée Society of the Arts hosted a costume dance last Saturday evening. It was a wonderful evening of folk dancing, laughter, and fellowship. We hope the neighbors weren’t too much disturbed by the boisterous Russian and Hebrew numbers. Above, you can see us dancing the Pat-a-Cake Polka; Indiana Jones polkas with a beautiful Spaniard in the foreground. To view an album of the photographs taken that evening, go HERE.
Our (adapted) program for the evening was as follows:
Corner Reel
Cumberland Reel
waltzes, polkas, swing
Virginia Reel
OXO Reel
Hebrew Circle Dance
Jiffy Mixer (Jingle Bell Rock)
We closed the program with the Appalachian square dance prayer, after which requests were taken from the floor until 11:00 PM—though most of us felt that we could keep dancing. The Soirée Society costume dance promises to be a much-anticipated annual event!
*For those of you still waiting for the promised video of the Soirée Society performance of The Ugly Duckling, I’ve been informed by the video editor that it should be soon forthcoming. Thank you for your patience!
