Sounds of the Renaissance
Sounds of the Renaissance
I love the sound of classical Spanish music; I also love that of Renaissance music. Yesterday I discovered the pleasure of both in the composer Diego Ortiz, through his work “Recercara segunda.” With its limpid, vibrant melody, this ebullient Renaissance piece is a real delight. It seems to me that if one could see music, Renaissance and Baroque music would be all of rich jewel colors.
For more Diego Ortiz, watch the Savall family play his “Recercada Primera” on authentic instruments. While you are there, watch Jordi Savall play his viola de gamba at the Classic Voice. After that first piece, can anyone say seriously cheerful?
Let me know what you think.
