Baby, I Like It Raw
Nearly once a month my family purchases several gallons of whole, raw milk—emblazoned with the ignored dictum “For Pet Consumption Only.” I love this milk! It is rich and tasty, and I enjoy it freely in the knowledge of its many benefits.
This morning I watched the following informative interview with Mark McAfee, founder of Organic Pastures, an organic dairy farm that sells raw milk in California. This fifty-minute interview, I believe, is a wonderful introduction to the contrasts between the pasteurized, homogenized milk bought in stores, and real, raw milk as God created it. Have you never taken time before to consider this subject? Please do sit down and listen to this. You will not be disappointed.
Note: There are two or three instances of mild ‘language.’

Wow, that was excellent! When I opened your post I intended just to watch a few minutes before bed and watch the rest tomorrow. Well, I just finished the whole video in one sitting (though I was sold after five minutes of watching). WOW is really all there is to say. I’ve wanted to switch to raw milk for a year or so now, ever since I really heard about it and realized what pasteurized-homogenized milk really was. however, we’ve still not been able to switch because I simply can’t find raw milk. He mentions in the video that Arizona is one of the states where you can buy raw milk in the store, but I’ve certainly never seen it anywhere. Have any suggestions? There are definitely no farms around here where you ca just go and buy milk from the farmer. (Grass is kind of helpful when it comes to that. That’s something we don’t have much of.) All we have is cotton and a bit of alfalfa. Obviously the supermarkets don’t sell it. There are no farmer’s markets within an hour or two, and Im 98% positive our local health food market doesn’t have it (though I will inquire next week in case I’m missing it). So it seems like I’m pretty much out of luck.
Well, anyway, sorry for the long comment. Thanks so much for posting the video I’ve passed it on to my parents. I can’t wait to discuss it with them! —Elissa

Oh, and just so you know, I wasn’t up at 4 AM. It was about 12:45 by my computer when I finished the video. :-) I was just checking back and saw that my comment says 4:05 AM. I’m a night owl, but not quite to that extreme. :-D —Elissa

Wasn’t it great? I love studying nutritional health because it is endlessly fascinating as well as directly and immediately applicable.
Do I have suggestions for raw milk in Arizona? You can ask your local health food store to stock it if they don’t already Otherwise, realmilk.com lists several sources for raw milk in your state; perhaps one is nearby to you. We belong to a health food co-op, and the farmer meets us at a church to make monthly deliveries. If you could organize enough interested customers, a farmer might be willing to make such a delivery directly to your area.
