Wardrobe Woes
I am not sure I realized when I accepted a nomination for Wardrobe Director that it would involve this much sewing. I admit that I do not enjoy sewing. Especially on an old machine that constantly tangles the thread. Especially without patterns. Especially with a deadline.
We would so appreciate your prayers as we approach the date set for our October performance of A. A. Milne’s The Ugly Duckling. Pray that our young actors would be diligent in memorizing their lines, and that the performance would prove a positive experience for all involved. Pray for patience and peace for each of us.
vv Littlest Brother completes his daily schoolwork in the guest room with me, addition and subtraction problems mixing with the steady clack of the sewing machine. After school he always asks to help with the sewing.
The costumes so picturesquely hung on the dowel rod behind us have been banned to the closet. I got so sick of looking at them, and can’t wait until the play is over so I can hide everything in Next Sister’s dress-up trunk. Can anyone say ‘jaded’? ;-)

Do I see a water bottle on that antique desk without a REQUISITE coaster!?!?!?! Remember, nothing stays hidden forever—your own picture has found you out. There better not be a telltale ring or I will know who to come after. Aside from that, I’d like to say—beautiful costumes; you have done a remarkable job. Cannot wait for opening night. :-)

I thought you might notice that, Eagle Eyes. But the bottle, I assure you, was lukewarm and left no illicit rings of water.

Rest assured, Patroness of the Arts, it is in reality a reproduction of an antique, priceless nonetheless as it is part of our collection. However, the polyurethane used to protect to object is much more water resistant than the shellac or lacquer that may have been used in the past.
