FOLK DANCE {AUTUMN 2014}
We were waiting outside the door for ‘Jazz and Ballet’ to finish. A crowd of young boys were peeking through the window, waiting for their sisters. One said, ‘If you think that’s interesting, wait for the folk-dancing class. They are hilarious.’
Yes, we are.
It was with some sadness but with a great sense of accomplishment that we wrapped up a great semester earlier this week. I enjoyed getting to know each student, and sharing my favorite circle and contra dances with them. There were plenty of smiles and laughs as we learned new steps and figures, putting them together in dances that are both fun and beautiful. I am proud to say that each student came to class with enthusiasm and an inspiring willingness to try new things, along with a good measure of mischief!
I am grateful for a wonderful first experience with this local education co-op, and look forward, Lord willing, to teaching folk dance as well as Shakespeare and introductory Latin next year.
Now we are looking forward to a family costume dance early next month. Meanwhile, enjoy these action shots from the past twelve weeks.
