NOVEMBER 2014
The maple wears a gayer scarf, the field a scarlet gown; lest I should be old-fashioned, I’ll put a trinket on.—Emily Dickinson
We’ve just enjoyed our first stiff cold snap {by which is meant highs in the lower seventies}. We added more than trinkets to our wardrobes. ‘Really? You’re wearing a jacket, you wimp?’ a friend teased, braving a breezy sixty-five degrees in short shirt-sleeves. Yes and yes. We don’t have many opportunities to wear a scarf or sweater without stifling, so we are taking full advantage of the cooler temperatures.
I’ll also be taking full advantage of a week off from work. This house is going to be cleaned.
