A CHANCE FOR JOY
Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.—First Thessalonians 5:16-18
The holidays have come and gone, a small but bright recompense for a difficult year and a promising welcome to the new.
{Christians can be supercilious about that word holidays, but it plainly means ‘holy days,’ and I love the reverential hush it suggests to me. I need reverential hush!}
We were glad to see the other side of 2015, and toasted 2016 with prayers for a better {easier} year. I do have much to look forward to in the coming months: classes and dances and concerts and discussions and meetings for new projects. But, straining forward in hope, let me not pass too lightly over a season that brought its own laughter and beauty.
These pictures make me happy, and remind me that—even in anxious times—there is always a chance for joy.
