I’d Leave
Andrew Lang
I’d leave all the hurry,
the noise and the fray
For a house full of books
and a garden of flowers.
Abraham Cowley says it even better in his poem “The Wish.” “Ere I descend to the grave/ May I a small house and large garden have!/ And a few friends, and many books, both true,/ Both wise and both delightful too!”
Amen! I’d leave for a room filled with books, dresses, and a beautiful grand piano!
I hate my life but at least this makes it bearable.
I am glad a little art and poetry helped brighten your day. Sometimes it’s just what I need to lift my heart.
